TERMINOLOGY: Some visitors may prefer the term “capacitor mic” to “condenser mic,” and that’s fine. Since most manufacturers seem to have used the older term, and because many of the microphones featured here are from years past, the decision was made to stick with “condenser.” Similarly, RCA referred to its mics by “type,” while most contemporary microphone manufacturers use the term “model.” The same convention is followed here. Finally, Altec, American, and Shure used the phrase “ribbon mic,” while Electro-Voice and RCA chose the term “velocity mic.” That custom is maintained here as well. Thank you for visiting. Enjoy your stay. |
